Well, its getting close to the time to bring out winter items. Its been a crasy summer. Many storms, hope all came out OK. Not much really to report. Gas is high and will be for a while. Not too long till the elections. Well, like always, keep well and safe.

Wedding

My nephews wedding was great, I'm so glad for the happy couple. Wish them well. Been back over a week now and things are about the same. With the gas prices, don't have much money to go places anymore. Its getting harder on my fix income. Not more to report, again, everyone take care and be safe.

Just got back from Huntersville, NC (my youngest nephew and wife to be home). We had a great time with my brother and my other nephew. Eat so much, must have gained 10 lbs. Hope everyone had a great Holiday. Like always, take care and be safe.

Finally, I think I've met the girl for me, I guess time will tell. She lives in Cary, North Carolina, about an hour and 10 minutes from where I live. She is 54 years old, really a nice women, keeping my fingers cross, oh, her name is Laura.

Well, four years have gone by and the baby of the family is graduatiing Saturday 12 May 07 from college. It only seems like yesterday I held my nephew in my arms as a young infant. I know George (my brother) is very proud of him. Just wish his mother, my parents and his grand parents on his mother's side were here to enjoy this. Nothing more to report, but just hanging in there. Days turn into weeks and months so fast now. Hoping all the best for all, like always take care and be safe. Chester my cat is still doing well, he will be 8 years old this June and acts like a one year old.

I didn???t write this, but I admire the person who did! Good reminders as we enter the New Year! Try to see the glass half full and not half empty! In this case, MUCH more than HALF full! Welcome comments:

Discontented?

The Newsweek poll alleges that 67% of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69% of the country is unhappy with the performance of the president. In essence 2/3 of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change.

So being the knuckle dragger I am, I starting thinking, ''What we are so unhappy about?''

Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter? Could it be that 95.4% of these unhappy folks have a job? Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?

Maybe it is the ability to drive from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state? Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter? I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all involved. Whether you are rich or poor they treat your wounds and even, if necessary, send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.

Perhaps you are one of the 70% of Americans who own a home, you may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of having a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames thus saving you, your family and your belongings. Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes; an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss. This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90% of teenagers own cell phones and computers.

How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world? Maybe that is what has 67% of you folks unhappy.

Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S. yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.

I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The president who has a measly 31% approval rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled brats safe from terrorist attacks? The commander in chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me?

Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go. They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ''general'' discharge, an ''other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a ''dishonorable'' discharge after a few days in the brig.

So why then the flat out discontentment in the minds of 69% of Americans? Say what you want but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds, it leads, and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells. Just ask why they were going to allow a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book and do a TV special about how he didn't kill his wife but if he did, how he would do it . Insane!

Stop buying the negative venom you are fed everyday by the media. Shut off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as a country. There is exponentially more good than bad.

I close with one of my favorite quotes from B.C. Forbes in 1953:

''What have Americans to be thankful for? More than any other people on the earth, we enjoy complete religious freedom, political freedom, social freedom. Our liberties are sacredly safeguarded by the Constitution of the United States, 'the most wonderful work ever struck off at a given time by the brain and purpose of man.' Yes, we Americans of today have been bequeathed a noble heritage. Let us pray that we may hand it down unsullied to our children and theirs.''

I suggest we sit back and count our blessings for all we have. If we don't, what we have will be taken away. Then we will have to explain to future generations why we squandered such blessing and abundance. If we are not careful this generation will be known as the ''greediest and most ungrateful generation.'' A far cry from the proud Americans of the ''greatest generation'' who left us an untarnished legacy.

Great End To 2006

Had a great end of year with family and friends. Went to a Navy & Boston College game at Panthers (Bank of America Stadium) Stadium on 30 December. A real great game. Boston College pulled in at the last 10 seconds on a field goal. We had a tailgate before and after the game. Hope everyone made it back OK and the rest of the year is the best for all. Had a great time at my brother's, got back yesterday, and be leaving today for a bowl game. Will return on New Year's day. Really got some neat gifts from the family. Drank a little and ate a little too much (gain some weight, have to get on the ball in the New Year to lose). I'm sure we will eat a lot before, during and after the game. VETERANS DAY

I always have a tear in my eye when this day comes. It brings back memories of fellow soldiers I served with who gave their lives for our country. I remember a man who was kind, gentle and very much the family man. It was the last days of Nam, this man who saved many countless of times before, was helping to save some children and was hit by a motor. He continue to help until his last breath. I'm not religious, but this man gave it all for what he believe was for his country, only hope God has a special place for him. Just like our soldiers in Irag. No matter how you feel about the war, don't forget these troops are doing the job they were trained to do. So never forget, to give them a friendly hug or salute when you meet them. Hope everyone can thank a troop for their service. I know I will be thinking of all of them and thanking them. Oh well, lets see how the next two years go? Maybe after that 8 years with Mrs Clinton as President. Hope things go well. I'm getting to the age, who cares, but I do care for all who maybe affected. Wish the new party in power luck and the people who supported them. May all of you get what you wanted with this party. I guess, you won't be satisfied until the President and all that are with him go to jail, ha? Oh well, so be it, that is the majority, enjoy. Life still goes on for many. No matter how the new party does, any bad things will always be blamed on Bush, all good on the new party. May the day and weeks to come bring peace of mind for you.

Well, to all those that hate Bush and his party, it seems you will all have a big smile on your faces when the election is over, according too most experts. I hope your party enjoys the majority and doesn't take too much away from what I was able to get from the Bush era. Let them accomplish what you want and when Mrs Clinton is President do all she can act on the policies you care for. For myself, I will go with the flow, see how the other side does things and hold my opinion after giving them two to four years of being in charge. Either way, hope things are brighter in the future for everyone no matter who controls the government.

Reunion

Well, my lawyer called yesterday, he was able to reduce the speeding ticket to a speed that would let me keep my license, I had to pay a little more on fines and court costs. Got three points on my license (will be taken off after three years), but the bad news is he has no control what the insurance company would do (they can raise my insurance anywhere from double to dropping me). I think for the money I paid out (lawyer, fines and court costs), I came out better than I expected (even thought this was my first ticket in over 30 years of driving). Well, I guess I have to drive like a little old man (I guess I am now) and have all the people hit their horns at me. Oh well, what can I say. Also, got my crown work done yesterday also, at cost of over $750.00, spent over $5,000.00 in past three months (dentist work, lawyer, and car work). I guess have to become a hermit. You all take care and be safe now you hear (wow, southern talk), smile.

Physical & Court Date

Had my annual physical yesterday,the Doctor gave me my usual prescriptions for the year. Check my lungs and other parts, said looking good and was very satisfied with my weight lose. He then said to get labs today and I did. Like always, if I don't hear anything from the Clinic at Bragg within 10 days, I can assume I'm good for another year. Court date for the speeding ticket was today, waiting for my lawyer to call and give me the results. Know for sure my insurance will go up. Well, hope everyone is having a great day. Root Canal

Wow, just got back from a root canal, no fun at all. I wonder why people do things. I sent different size pictures to someone, thinking this would be nice (since I have the equipment to do that)for this person to have of her family (also my wedding gift). Just wanted to do something nice. Never received a thank you. Just can't judge people anymore and be nice to anyone I guess. But won't change the way I do things. If it feels good to me to try and do something nice, I will continue to do it. My calender is busy, 30 Oct have a Dental Cleaning, 31 Oct Doctor's appointment (annual affair), 1 Nov Court Date (got a speeding ticket, me, still can't believe I got one, first one in 30 years of any kind of ticket), 2 Nov dentist for crown, 4 Nov family reunion at Deep Run, NC, 13 Nov Jury Duty, then comes Thanksgiving again at Deep Run. Getting Cold

The weather is getting colder and colder by the day. I finally had to put on the heat. My cat presented me a present late last night, don't know how he did it, but he brought in a jack rabbit, wow. Spend the whole night trying to get it out of the house. Don't know if I did get it out, when I was chasing it (had the door open), the rabbit took off, have no idea if it went out or not. Closed all the doors leading to the hall, bedrooms and bathrooms. Will check later to see if its still in the house. The stupid cat, won't even check to see if its still here. Now the house is cold of course. Just had to write this down. Well, until next time.

Andrew Engagement

Well, the youngest in the family Andrew called me last week and gave me the news that him and his girlfriend (Ansley) are engaged. We are having a big engagement party this Saturday 30 Sep 06 in Charpel Hill, NC. I've only met Ansley once last year on X-Mas 05, she seem like a very nice young lady. They both graduate from college (she goes to UNC Chapel Hill) in June 07. She will be going on to graduate studies and Andrew will be seeking a teaching job in Maryland. They plan to marry after her graduate studies (gets a job) and live either in Maryland or North Carolina. She is from North Carolina, Charlotte area and her mother lives there. Oh well, it wasn't such a surprise, since all Andrew ever talked about was Ansley. Well, nothing more to report, still doing ok on my weight, gain many muscles and the weight stays around 187lbs. Not going to post really any weight status except maybe every month or so. Things are about the same, just getting on and doing things around the house. Been seeing the same woman for awhile now, and been talking to another. Told each one, not sure what I want and may not want to get serious again. They both said it was OK. Tried to find out how my ex and family were doing, not trying to get back with her, just like to know how she and her family was doing. But, received no reply from my email. Last time I will try, just felt like it would be nice to say hi and find out how they were doing. Oh well, it doesn't pay to be nice to anyone anymore, just get that knife in the back. But, can't change my nature. Wish her and her family the best and I will leave it like that. Well, two more days and turn 57 years old, never thought I would reach this age, but I'm getting there. Weigh myself today, the weight was 186.5 lbs and my B/P was 98/68 pulse 91 (I believe the B/P was low and pulse high, had just finish cutting the grass). Well, three pounds is not bad. Lets see about next week. Things are progressing Ok with my new girlfriend. She is fun to be with, but still taking it easy, I'm more careful on how I let my feelings go. Well, this time for the first time, I've gone three weeks in a row, not gaining or losing weight. I weigh in today and was 189.7 lbs my B/P was 105/60 with a pulse of 71. My 38 inch pants are starting to get real lose, have to put my belt in more. I think its the muscles, since the workouts with the weights they are getting stronger, so heavier. Oh well, if I can maintain the lose of waist, then I don't mind if I don't lose much weight. Met the women from Sneads Ferry, real nice woman, she is coming down to see me next week. Going to take it nice and easy. Nothing more to report, hope everyone has a great and safe week.

DIDN'T LOSE GAIN ALMOST 0NE POUND

Weigh myself today, 189.4lbs gained almost one pound from last week, no problem, still think its the weights I'm using. My blood pressue was 119/71 and pulse was 65. I had a date the other day, same old story, after driving up to Raleigh, this woman was nothing like what she said she was. She was around 80lbs over weight and even didn't look like her picture. She just lied to me on all fronts. Oh well, can't seem to understand why women do this, she said she was 57 but don't even know if that is the true. Talking with a woman over the internet right now, nice looking lady, she is 54 years old, brown hair, brown eyes and is 5'4" tall, slim, she showed me 5 pictures, but lives in Sneads Ferry, don't know if I want to go that far again to date someone. She has two kids, one is 25 (her son), married with two kids and the other is her daughter (I believe she said 19) who is attending a music school in New York City (didnt' get the school name). Has a double wide and 2 acres of land. She works at Camp Lajune in Jacksonville. She asked me to call her tonight (gave me her number this morning). Lets see what happens. Told her about Holly Ridge, she told me that is the pass, she also had someone dump her too, after three years. I believe she shops at the same store that my ex does, she said don't worry if we see her, this is if we meet and stay together. Just be friendly if I see my ex. So we have that in common I guess. Got a short haircut the other day, still look ugly ha? Weigh myself today, my weight was 188.5 lbs almost 2lbs less than last weigh in. My blood pressure was 113/67 and my heart rate 76 (which is holding its own). I finally broke the 190lb mark, GREAT. My size 38 pants feel real lose, soon I'll be down to size 36. Well, not much more to go for my 180lbs goal. I feel very much stronger I believe because of the weights I use. I started the online dating thing again, lets see if any of these women act their age instead of acting like 16 year old. Going try again for a month or so, if no luck, then maybe try the bar circuit (might try Raleigh, who knows). Nothing more to report. Wish everyone, like always, have a great and safe week.

Weigh myself this morning, 190.1, no real lost from last week. Must be muscle, my waist is getting smaller, the size 38 pants are becoming lose. My blood pressure was 112/67, that is staying about the same all the time. Increase my morning walk by 4 minutes, but keep my 2nd workout the same (the one with the weights), every other day. Was busy yesterday, so didn't weigh myself. I finally reached my first goal, I weigh in at 190.3lbs today. Now my next goal is 180 lbs. I really feel great. Well weigh today 192.7lbs, had no actual net gain or any wt lost. I guess a lot is turning into muscle, it got to be that, the size 38 waist pants are beginning to be lose. Well, I guess I better cut back on the weights for awhile. But still feel great, B/P 118/69 still doing great on that. I'm starting to get lonely, may have to try the internet again or visit the bars soon. It always felt great when you had someone to hold, talk too and do things with. Weigh myself today 192.4lbs, getting there, not long before I will be at my first goal of 190lbs. I feel so great I can't describe how the feeling is. My blood pressure today was 104/64, not bad ha? My size 38 waist pants fit good now, soon they will be loose. This is when I don't mind to buy new clothes, rather buy for losing than gaining any. Nothing more to report, except I wish all will take time out to remember the ones that had died for our country (this memorial Day), the freedom we enjoy, the ones injured and the ones presently in harms way. Lost Only One Pound - Better Than Nothing

Weigh myself today, I'm at 195.2lbs, which is only a pound from last week. But, its OK, one pound is better than nothing. If I average one pound a week, by the middle of June I will be almost 190lbs. Then by September I will be around 183.2lbs, which would be close to what I want to get too (180lbs). I started to do a lot of things around the house (Thanks to Helen, where I learned a lot about planting, etc), I'm almost finish taking down the ivy from the side of the house, put down mulch/stones where I wanted it, cut down many branches, a small tree, and doing a lot more around the house. I started to read again, I'm reading THE DAVINCI CODE (BY DAN BROWN), just started. Want to read first, then maybe get the movie when it gets on DVD. Finally, I don't think that often about Helen, and when I do think of her, its with kindness and wishing her the best. Still in love with her, but I guess as time goes, I will just love the fond memories of her. Like I always said, all I ever wanted to do was make her Happy (I always asked her if she was happy). Still staying off the dating sites. Once I reach my goal of 180lbs, then maybe I will start the bar route, or sites, will make my mind up when I get there. I decided to say the hell with women for now. Tried the dating sites again, all are into playing games, can't believe how women between 50 and 65 play games like 16 year old. I'm going just to consentrate on my health and weight for now. Might try the bar scene again when I'm ready, can't be any worst than the date sites. I was just looking over my blog from the first one. All I see is Helen, all the work that was done and how I was used for someone else to enjoy the hard work I did. Going to delete all that from Ohio until last Christmas end of the month, say goodbye to what at one time I thought were good/happy times for the both of us, but it all seems like a horror show now. Muscle

Well, weigh in and I gain 2 pounds (202lbs), I guess from muscle, with using the weights. But, I tried on a pair of size 38 pants and they almost fit comfortable. So at least the fat is going away, going to slow down on the weights, would rather lose the weight first then make what is remaining into muscle. Nothing much more to report, was invited to a singles cruise, because I couldn't get the full deposit back that I had made for a an open book cruise (couples). I have 6 open dates, from now until the middle of September. Will think about it. I really didn't want to go on cruise by myself, was always wanted to enjoy the cruise with someone. But, I don't want to lose the money either, might just go and see how it goes. Nothing more to report, like anyone is really looking at my blog, if so, take care and be careful.

WOW, LET ME TELL YOU: On 27 Mar 2006 my weight was 226lbs and my waist was 44 pushing higher. Just weight myself this morning, I weigh now 200.7lbs and my waist is a 40, I should reach my goal to weigh 180 by Sept 2006. I have more energy than before, my strength has gone up (since I'm lifting weights). My blood pressure has stayed from a low of 105/66 to a high of 118/73, I know when I see the doctor in Oct (the way things are going) for my annual checkup, the doctor will be extremely happy. Crazy How Things Go

Have a dentist appointment today, one of my teeth has been giving me problems for the past 6 months. Hope they can take care of it. . That part of my life (relationship) is finally coming to a closure, still in love, but I guess it would take time, wish it were sooner than later. Having this in my mind, that a person you cared for didn't care for you and lied all these years, is still hard to forget and think you were dumped for someone over the phone, and like the past two years didn't mean a thing (which I guess it didn't). Well, I guess one day I will no longer feel this way. Hope to put a picture soon of a man with a little muscle and alot of weight lost. PS Got back from the dentist, was given antibiotic pills, seems the tooth next to the one I was worried about is infected, so the dentist wants to take care of the infection first. Things are looking good, dropped another three pounds and gaining some muscle, been using weights. Now I feel the brake up was for the best, I got younger women looking at me now. I feel comfortable now looking back, I might go for losing another 15 lbs or so and then join a gym to tone everything up. Maybe Stupid But Felt Good

It maybe stupid, but it felt good. I sent the prior posting with some more words to the one I loved. If she reads it or not, it felt great letting her know my feelings and how she destroyed me. But, like the nice guy I am, I also sent an email saying, that what I send was because I was angry and all I had in my heart was happy things for her. I could not stay angry with her since I still loved her. But all in all it felt good sending what I did, it kind of took all the hurt feelings out of me, kind like a closure. I think, I'm 85% ready to continue. If her kids ever read this, I still would like to know how your families are doing. I may not have showed it, but really enjoy being around all of you. Well, I least I have this blog to let out my sorrow. Looking toward better days. Bye for now. When you think things are going great, even when you find out you love someone, ready to inform the person, was going surprise the person with a cruise, the bottom falls. You can never figure people, but that is the way world goes. I guess one day I will forget this person who I learned I really loved and wanted to spend my live with. I got to enjoy all the things she liked to do. But, that is the pass, wish her all the best and still would help anytime she needs it. I'm just a phone call and email away. It will take time, but I guess live goes on. Its so hard to forget when you have help when she was sick, help around her place and got to really enjoy her kids. I got so comfortable being with her. I was also going to start going again every week, leading to buying the property next to her, so we could be close all the time and who knows marry. But instead a person out of the past gets that prize. All well. Have to get on with other things. But had to write this down, don't really have anyone else to write too. bye for now.

Had a great time with my brother (his co-workers) and nephews (with their girlfriends). The X-Mas and New Year holidays are the only times I drink, man, did I drink. Not to mention I eat so much, I guess I put on 10lbs, but it was worth it. I hope all had a great time over the holidays and 2006 is great for everyone.

These past days were eventful and most happy. Helen and I were able to fill some holes in her long driveway (temp solution), move the old deck to the pond (made a dock), was able to have a great visit with Tommy, Lisa and their kids (the food was great). The conversation was very informative and gave great insight on how all of us felt about many topics. I enjoy playing the devils advocate to see how people really feel about certain subjects. Just hope I didn't bore everyone with this old mans ramblings. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and all were safe. Not much more to report.

Driveway Back to The Way It Was (wow)

Well, its only been a week since I clean the driveway, now it looks like it did before I cleaned it. I guess I'm good to go, did not receive a call from the Doctor about my labs. Its been two weeks. Leaving today to Helen's for Thanksgiving. Just wanted to wish all a very Happy Thanksgiving and be safe if you drive. My cat got me a couple of early X-Mas presents, two mice, one dead the other still a live. Oh well, I guess he wanted to share the meal with me and looked at me while took the mice outside. I guess Chester still can't understand why I would throw them away. Everyone take care.

Driveway Clean About Time

Well, to show you how things go for me, tried to post pictures of how clean my driveway looks now, after I spent an hour cleaning it. But, like always, now the blogger won't upload my pictures. It took six tries, but finally they took, looks clean ha? Today was the 4th day of walking, I guess that is why I felt great and did the driveway plus other things around the house. It was a fruitful day, but of course I did this when it was cold and windy (what a dummy I am). Helen says her front door, deck and the rest of the Sun room is finished, but she had trouble downloading the pics she took of them. I can wait until next week. Well, wish my nephew Andrew, the best of luck, he is having surgery on his ankle, take care Drew and I know things will come out OK. Like always, wish everyone a great and safe day. Sun Room

The carpeting and 99% of the setup in the Sun Room is done, no thanks to me, Helen was able to really get it all done nice and it looks great. Through my mis-handling of things to move, dropping, breaking and making a big wet spot on her new carpet, she was able to pull all of it together. I guess, it was expected of me, since I've got us lost more than twice on a trip and seem to mess everything up that I try. I know she had a great time with Tommy and the kids Friday. I'm glad I wasn't able to mess that up. Tommy was able to ensure some of things on the computer were working correctly to include the photo making machine. All that is left is some minor things on the outside of the Sun Room. I will start my walking today, real slow at first and then pick up the pace after New Year's. Have another week or so to wait on the results of my blood test, if don't hear anything by the 21st it will be safe to say I'm good to go. Well, everyone have a great and safe week.

Doctor's Appointment

My nephew Andrew and I at the reunion this past weekend.
Well, saw the doctor today, she checked me out, said I'm doing fine. Sent me for lab work, they must have took 4 pints of blood from me and ask me to urine in the bottle. But, like always, couldn't do it, so have to come back Wednesday and try again. The doctor gave me prescriptions for my medications (pickup now - 90 day supply) with 3 refills to last the year. I asled the doctor about my weight, she said I should lose an additional 15 pounds and gave me a diet to go on. She is just afraid that I might end up being a Diabetic Type II again and told me to start my walking again (try at least 10 miles a week if not more). Oh well, there goes Helen's cocking, your fault Helen, smile now, only joking. So if I don't hear from the doctor in the next two weeks, the labs came out OK and I am good until next year. Like always, you get used to one Doctor, then they have to go, she leaves in four months, so I will have another one next year. Nothing more to report, except I'm going to eat what I want until Monday, then I will start the walking and diet. So Helen cook up a storm when I come over. Nothing more to report, everyone be safe and take care.

Helen really worked her tail off to lay the carpet down, she did 95% of the work, it turned out great. She has two more sections left to do. The last section will be real hard, has to ensure the carpet fits around three doors, angle will be hard. Went to the reunion Saturday at BJ's (my brother's wife (who had passed away) sister's house). It was nice seeing everyone again, real nice family and enjoy seeing my brother and one of my nephews. Nothing really to report. Have my doctor's appointment (annual) 8 November, see how I'm doing and hope that nothing is found when she does the blood work. I think they did a great job on the sun room. I loaded these since Helen has problems loading to her blog ( I hope you don't mind Helen?). I put two of the same pics, OH well.
Just got back from Helen's. The contractors finish with the inside of the sun room and only have a couple of things to finish outside. Of course, Helen started to put things in the room and it really looks great. We went to Lowe's to get an estimate for an indoor/outdoor carpet and then on Saturday we went to some yard sales, she was able to pickup somethings for the sun room. Now its my turn to do somethings around my house, so Monday after I get my oil change will start with the back yard and clean it. Then schedule the rest of the week for the all of the outside. This Saturday I have to go to my brother's wife's sister's house for a family reunion. Well, nothing much more to report, except its a great feeling seeing how happy Helen is with the sun room and I'm so glad. Again, everyone take care and be safe.

The pictures are from Friday night dinner, Farmer's market and the wedding (which I was only able to take a couple batteries went dead). After all the years in the service, you would think I would have learn my left from my right, east from west and north from south. But now I think old age is setting in, twice I lost everyone who was with me in the car and following me. Poor Mike, Tina and the baby had to follow this old fart and be lost. I guess I have to give up my role of a good direction finder and leave it up to younger personal. The wedding really came off great, Tommy really did his priestly duties in an outstanding manner and everyone seems to enjoy themselves. I met a lot of people from both sides of the family, they all seem like real decent people. I know Helen was very proud of her brew. I hope she can forgive me for not having working batteries to take pictures for her. I wish the newly married couple the best of luck and a wonderful life together. Talked to Helen last night, finally the closing went through, hope this will be one less thing to worry about. Sounded like she had a real hard day yesterday, but she was able to do her shopping for the Wedding, etc. and talk to TOM & JERRY (construction persons) about fixtures, general questions of the sunroom. I went yesterday to get the car checked out for the trip (battery, tires, fluids, etc). Get gas today. wait on Helen to come tonight, then leave Friday for the wedding and relax. I spent most of the day just playing on the computer and watching TV. I did however trim one of the trees, but that only took about an hour. Hope everything went OK for Helen, will call her later tonight to find out. Got Feedback what to get the rest of the family for Christmas. So, I will have taken care of all gifts by the first week of November. Well, not much more to report. All have a great night and sleep well.

Helen's Laptop

The Floor of Helen's Sunroom.
It took awhile but I got Windows 2000 Pro loaded onto Helen's laptop. By the way Tommy, its a used one I bought on Ebay (EL Cheapo), its a early Christmas present (I tell Helen its her 2010 present, she knows what that means). Everything works on it, surprise, has a DVD built-in, a 3.5 disk built in, but its small 12 inches. The battery was even charged at 60%, now its at 98%, I loaded AOL for her too. Got a mouse loaded also, its used with a USB port. Going to see if I can load Microsoft Works 2000 on it. Oh by the way it has over 4 GB. See if she takes it with her to the wedding, really the laptop was a Sunroom warming gift, but she can have it as a Christmas gift too. Finish working around the house (really not much) preparing for winter. I gave (I hope) the last coat to the cabinets in my wash/dryer room, it looks half way decent, was going to blame Helen if it turn out wrong, smile Helen. My flat screen monitor went out on me yesterday, there were around 10 power surges within a span of 2 hours. At first it look like it affected my computer, but I lucked out, it was only the screen. Found out it would cost just as much to fix (labor mostly) as a new one would cost, so bought me a new one (present from me to me, for Christmas). Gave Rose her birthday card/present today, instead of waiting until her B-Day 18 Oct, she turns 73 years young, great lady. Of course she got angry, but she called me (I left the gift/card hanging on her door), said she was angry, but loved the present, I can tell, it sounded like she was in tears. I'm so glad Helen, George, Nick and Andrew help me pick it out. So, Rose says thanks from the bottom of her heart and she will kill all of us for getting such a fine gift. I'm really happy for her, I owe her so much, I enjoy doing things for her and seeing her happy, now that its been almost three years and she has been cancer free. Well, wrote more than I was intending too. Everyone stay safe and enjoy life.

Chester the cat, says hi. Not much to report, got back from Helen's, which is always a pleasure to be with her and help her. Just hope things go well for her today. Wish you luck Helen. Tuesday is my neighbor's B-day, got her a card and gift. I know she will be angry, she doesn't want any presents, oh well. Everyone have a great and safe week.

My cat Chester. Well, got off my butt and cut my front yard and did my neighbor's (Rose), going to Helen's, but been waiting for the UPS guy. Hope he comes before I leave, should be Helen's laptop, or well she make have to wait until next week. Nothing more really to report. Everyone take care and have a safe day.

Trying this bloc again. I turned 56 years old on 18 August 2005, wow how time really goes by, it only seems like yesterday my father (who passed away in 2000) and mother ( who passed away in 1999) where saying goodbye to me many years ago (over 30 years ago) as I joined the service. Over the years I've had my ups and downs with life, but one constant thing was my immediate family- my parents, brother-his wife (who passed away in 2002) and nephews. No matter what happens in your life, there is always family, they are an extending of your own life. When you are happy, sad or sick, the family is always there to help in anyway they can. They bring comfort and a sense of well being. Well, enough of thanking the Gods for such a terrific family. Only regret I have, not having children of my own.
The great thing in live is also meeting and knowing people who care about you. I have a great neighbor who help me through the loss of my mother, father and sister in-law. She has always been there for me, pick me up when I was depressed and guided me through the hard times. Also, there is another friend I have (close one) who in her own way has given me a since of being. She sometimes makes me a little angry on the way she goes about getting things done, but its fun trying to help her and see how things turn out.
I hope I will be posting more cheerful items on this bloc. Will start as of today, many things occurred prior, but will start with now. Please feel free to post any comments.
